photography basics

Photography is more than point and shoot. To properly capture the moment, proper lighting, distance, angles and exposure speed are in need of consideration.  If unsure of lighting, more is typically better.  The distance or range is entirely dependent upon the type of camera the photographer is shooting with, and closer is always a safe bet.  Proper photography angles should diminish shadows and be sure to catch the 'good side' of the subject.  If the camera allows the photographer to adjust exposure speed, rapid exposures are good for any outdoor, daylight activity and slow exposures should only be taken with a tripod.
